

MANFORD C. SHROY, 80, a longtime Sedro-Woolley resident passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday December 15, 2004.
He was born on April 2, 1924 in Powers, Oregon, the son of Clarence and Clara Ryberg Shroy. He was raised and attended school in Oregon and Southwestern Washington until coming to Sedro-Woolley in 1941. He graduated from Sedro-Woolley High School with the class of 1942. He immediately began working as a foundry man at Skagit Steel. From 1943 to 1945 he served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during WW II.
On May 29, 1945, he was united in marriage to Jackie Coffee in Sedro-Woolley. Manford returned to Skagit Steel where he continued working as a molder and foundry man until his retirement in 1987. He was a member of the Molders International Union.
He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed fishing on the Skagit River and camping at Baker Lake. He also loved hunting, picking mushrooms and wild blackberries, playing cards and amazing everyone with his card tricks but, he would never divulge his secrets. He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Jackie, at the family home in Sedro-Woolley. 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Janis & Sonny Cyr of Burlington and Susan & Jeff Hope of Everett. 5 grandchildren, Allen Cyr and his wife, Kathleen, Matthew Abbott, Hannah Hope and Colin & Christopher Shroy. 3 great-grandchildren, Haley & Dylan Cyr and Gunnar Shroy. 1 brother, Melvin Shroy and his wife, Autumn of Vancouver, WA and numerous in-laws and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence & Clara Shroy, a son, James Shroy in 2002 and an infant brother, Bobby Shroy.
Memorials in Manford’s memory are suggested to the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Sedro-Woolley or a charity of your choice.
A Life Celebration will be held on Wednesday December 22, 2004 at 2:00 PM at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Sedro-Woolley with Pastor Walt Rice officiating. Visitation will be available at Lemley Chapel thru Tuesday December 21st.
