Margaret Rhone

Friday, December 21st, 2018

Margaret Rhone, 93, a longtime resident of Skagit County passed away surrounded by family Tuesday, December 18, 2018.   Now we celebrate her and embrace her journey that God has planned.

Margaret dedicated her life to being a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family meant everything to her and was her treasure in life. She was an intuitive, diligent woman with a quiet sense of humor, enjoying picnics, dancing and traveling in her younger years. She preferred being outdoors as to being inside, always up for a walk in the woods. Her passions later in life included discussing current events, watching, participating, and guessing correct answers to game shows, and rooting on her Mariners and Seattle Seahawks.

Margaret was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Luther. Together they farmed, raised a family and devoted their time to various activities and functions of the Catholic Church in their community, from Altar Society to Sedro-Woolley Steak Fry Dinners.

She is survived by her children Jim, Tom (Tracy), Bill (Denise), Linda (Greg), Bob, Ed (Gretchen); numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; all of whom Margaret held close to her heart.

A special thank you to the Hospice of the Northwest for their compassionate care; especially, her team members, Diane, Janet, Karuna, Tanya, and Tiana.

The Rosary will be recited at 7:00pm on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Saint Charles Catholic Church, 935 Peterson Road, Burlington.  A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30am on Friday, January 4, 2019 at the church. Union Cemetery will be Margaret’s final resting place.

    To the Rhone family,
You may not remember me, but I truly remember your Mom so many years ago at the Catholic school in Mount Vernon. She was a lovely woman. I send my sympathies and hope that good memories are comforting at this time. A special hello and condolences to Linda.

I am so happy that I got a chance to visit with her in October. She will be forever in our memories. I will not be able to come as I have a surgery scheduled but she will be in my prayers. Judy Reno

Dear Aunt Margaret was greatly loved by my mom, my sister and me. I’ll always remember in Summer, staying with Grandma Albert and “running” across the freeway to the Rhone’s house. There was always the hustle bustle of kids in and out, Uncle Luther at work and Aunt Margaret holding down the fort, taking kids to berry fields or cucumber fields in the flat bed hay truck, with that big steering wheel! Of course, she made all of us kids a bag lunch and I remember “sandwich spread” and meat on the yummy sandwich. She had the biggest heart for even the nieces and nephews. I’ll always remember her laugh and smile, which will be sorely missed. XXOO
