Marilee Anne Froneberger

Marilee Anne Froneberger

Friday, May 15th, 2015

Marilee Anne Froneberger, 69, a former resident of Skagit County, passed away on May 15, 2015 at the Whatcom Hospice House in Bellingham surrounded by her loving family.

Marilee was born on May 13, 1946 in Seattle and later moved to Burlington where she grew up and attended school. At the age of 17 she met the love of her life, William “Danny” Froneberger, at a wedding reception. They were united in Marriage on December 20, 1963. Apparently, opposites do attract. Danny was always outgoing and social while Marilee was usually quiet and reserved. They were married for 51 years. Anyone who could endure Danny’s embarrassing stories and frolics for that many years truly deserved an award!

Marilee and Danny, aka “Froney” made their home in Sedro-Woolley where they raised their two sons and daughter.  Marilee attended Skagit Valley College where she earned an Associate’s Degree in the medical field.  In 1985 the family moved to Ferndale and Marilee worked as a medical transcriptionist at the Ferndale Medical Clinic for several years. Later, she and Danny returned to Skagit County to reside in Birdsview for a short period before moving to a warmer climate in Yuma, AZ. They were snowbirds for several years and decided to make Arizona their permanent home. Although they enjoyed the desert immensely and made many new friends, in 2009 they moved back to Skagit County to be closer to family

Marilee enjoyed family camping trips, staying up with a good book, cooking, collecting cookware and culinary accessories, going on cruises and vacationing to tropical destinations- Hawaii was her and Danny’s favorite. Marilee had a tasteful eye for fashion and loved shopping, especially from the QVC network. Above all, she loved being with family and spending time with her grandchildren. She ritually kept up with all of their travels, plays and activities.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Dave & Holly Froneberger of Sedro-Woolley, Robin & Pete Vanderende of Marysville and Ray & Sarah Froneberger of Blaine; 9 grandchildren, Carly, Shawn, Kira, Nate, Jade, Jordan, Madisen, Ethan and Bianca; several nieces and nephews and many close friends.  She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Danny in March 2015. They are reunited once again.

A Family Graveside Inurnment service will be held at the Bow Cemetery on May 29, 2015 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Dennis Spinney of the Big Lake Church of the Nazarene officiating.  A Celebration of Life will be held May 30, 2015 from 11:00 – 3:00 pm at the Samish Grange. The family requests that memorials in honor of Marilee be made to the Whatcom Hospice House.

To the Froneberger family, I am proud to say I knew your mom and dad. Their life together is a bond that is never broken. I can imagine your mom seating next to your dad and still listening to his wildly told stories to all that will listen and him taking care of her as a princess should be. They both will be truly missed and will always be loved by all that knew them. Your moms smile will be etched in my heart and your dads bear hugs always felt.

I’m so sorry for your family’s loss. May the God of all comfort be with you during this difficult time. 2 Cor 1:3,4. You have my condolences.

Marilee was a smiling and fun person to be around…..We got to know Dan when him and Marilee came to our church before they moved to Ferndale. Loved the times we spent together. They will be missed. So sorry for all the losses in your family lately—you had wonderful parents who were a good example to each of the kids and grandkids. Will be remembering you in our prayers……

Was so sad to just now read that Marilee had passed away. Darryl and I both know that Merilee and Dan are now together in their heavenly home. So many laughs and good times over the years with the both of them. God’s peace to Dave, Robin, Ray and their families.

Marilee and I recently reconnected online after the many years between BEHS and celebrating our Grandchildren. Prayers and thoughts to her family.

To the family of Dan and Marilee, our deepest sympathy for your great loss. We have so many fond memories of our families together camping, fishing and just hanging out. I can only imagine your sense of loss. I choose to believe that they are together again, that gives me comfort. Gone way too soon.

Kira & Nate, you have my sincere sympathy……I’m sure she will be missed

Dan and Marilee were there for Pete and I when the kids were little and we didn’t have any family here. I worked with Marilee at Ferndale Family Medical Center and she invited us many times to go camping with their family. We enjoyed Dan’s laughter around the camp fire and he told his funny stories. Marilee was a great friend to me and I will hold on to all of those special memories.

Both of them will be missed so much but never forgotten. And it makes it less sad for me to think that Dan (the fixer) left first to fix things up for Marilee in heaven. And what a blessing that not only is she out of pain now, but gets to continue being with the love of her life. That is exactly the way they would have planned it. A new adventure together. That has to make you smile.

My mom and dad will always be missed, and the great memories we had together will never be forgotten. I’m sure my father is taking great care of my mother when she arrived in heaven. Human life is temporary, but memories and spirit will last forever.
