Marlene S. Brinkerhoff, mother of three awesome children, passed away March 1, 2017 after a three year struggle with dementia.
Marlene was born on March 22, 1935 in Ulen, Minnesota. She was a beautician in Mount Vernon for over 40 years, operating a beauty shop called Marlene’s Beauty View on N 4th Street. She cut, curled and dyed the heads of many is Skagit County. She never met a head of hair she couldn’t do something with.
Her customers, friends and family were her source of joy and she will be missed by those that knew her.
Marlene is survived by her two sons, Randy Lenssen and wife Vicki of St. Louis, MO and Jerry Lenssen and wife Gretchen of Sedro-Woolley; daughter, Julie Anderson and husband Mike of Sedro-Woolley; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; four sisters and one brother. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter Susie and a young son Bruce.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 301 S. 18th Street, Mount Vernon. The family requests that memorials be made to the Skagit Humane Society in her honor. Private inurnment will be at the Mount Vernon IOOF Cemetery. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
So sorry and sad to hear this. I worked with Marlene for several years at the shop on 4th. She was such a sweetheart. Marlene was an inspiration to so many of us. I know she was an incredible hairdresser and a friend to all. Marlene you will be missed. God Bless you.
