MARY IRENE RICE-JOHNS, 21, a resident of the Cape Horn community near Concrete, WA for the past 3 years passed away unexpectedly on Sunday May 12, 2002.
She was born on January 14, 1981 in Colorado Springs, CO, the daughter of Timothy & Christine James Johns.
Mary made her home in Colorado until 1988, when she moved to Everett, WA. She attended grade school and Mariner High School there until settling in Anacortes, WA in 1998. She had a variety of interests. She liked being with and babysitting children so their mother’s could work. She enjoyed horseback riding and swimming, and was a certified lifeguard.
Mary is survived by her parents, Christine & Timothy Johns of Concrete, WA. 3 sisters, Tina Towns and husband Darin of Genoa, CO, Arleta Robinson and husband Phil of Colorado Springs, CO and Katherine Johns of Concrete, WA. Adopted brothers, Richie Molidor and Travis McDonnell both of Concrete, WA. Grandparents, Irene Rice of Modesto, CA and Eugene Johns in Texas. 1 uncle, William James in California, Fiance, David Seger, 6 nieces and nephews and numerous cousins.
Graveside services will be held Monday May 20, 2002 at 2:00 P.M. at the Forest Park Cemetery in Concrete. Pastor Bruce Martin and Mary’s father, Pastor Timothy Johns officiating. Memorials to the Northwest Tissue Center, 921 Terry Avenue, Seattle, WA 98104, Attn: Shari Fowler, are suggested.
A special thank you to the staff of AERO-Skagit and friends who responded to try to help rescue Mary.
