Matilda M. ‘Tillie’ Taylor

Oct 2, 1915 – Mar 11, 2018

102 years young

Matilda M. ‘Tillie’ Taylor, 102, a longtime resident of the Skagit Valley, passed away on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at the Life Care Center of Skagit Valley in Sedro-Woolley.

Tillie was born on October 2, 1915 in Lodi, California, the daughter of Jacob & Bertha (Anhorn) Tschritter.

Tillie was raised and attended school in California until 1930 when the family moved to Everson, WA. While living in Everson she worked in the local cannery.

On December 23, 1934 she was united in marriage to Phillip Taylor in Bellingham and for the next forty years they made their home and raised their family in the Marblemount area, moving to Sedro-Woolley in 1974.  She worked from morning until dark raising her children, never complaining and doing the job of a mother and house wife. In her many years she was never known to dislike any person and no one was known to dislike her.

Tillie was a 40 year member of the Marblemount Assembly of God Church where she faithfully attended every Sunday.  She was a dedicated servant to her Lord.

Tillie is survived by her son, Paul E. Taylor and wife Jan of Sedro-Woolley; 8 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren: 9 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, John Taylor, 2/2/1936 to 2/13/1936; her husband Phillip in March 2004; 3 daughters, Grace Lemon in October 2012, Phyllis Eldridge in October 2013, and Pauline Wenrick in October 2014; 6 sisters and 3 brothers. She was the oldest of 10 and the last one to survive.

Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 12:00 noon at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery.  Memorials in honor of Tillie are suggested to the Marblemount Assembly of God Bread of Life Food Bank.   Visitation is available Tuesday thru Friday from 9 am to 5 pm and on Saturday 9 am to 11 am. My deepest condolences go out to you Paul. I didn’t have the pleasure of meeting your wonderful mother but my grandmother Imogene loved her dearly and spoke very highly of her. They were lifetime friends with lots of great memories between them. Sending you and your family Paul blessings of peace.

I have a fond place in my heart for Aunt Tilly. I was thrilled as a little girl to be able to go spend the night with my cousin’s up at her house. Some great times were had in marblemount. She was a steady example of Christ I’m so proud to be her niece. To Paul, Jan and family … I know that you have suffered many a loss here lately and I’m praying for you guys. Sending you much love.
