Mildred Anna Daves, age 85, passed away on Friday, April 9, 2010 at the Avalon Care Center at Northpointe in Spokane, Washington. She was born July 28, 1924 in Auburn, New York to Clinton and Anna (Oliver) Palmer.

Mildred had been a resident of the Sedro-Woolley and Concrete areas from 1935 until 1990 when she moved to Kettle Falls and then to Spokane.

She retired as head cook at the Puget Power Training Facility on the Upper Baker Dam in Skagit County.

Mildred was united in marriage to Vernon Daves on August 28, 1941 in Lyman. He preceded her in death in March of 1986. She also lost long time loving companion of fifteen years, Ray Ashe in 2004.

She enjoyed dancing, fishing, traveling, and was a member of the Eagles and American Legion Auxiliary.  Mildred also was a member of the Kettle Falls Seniors, the Kettle Falls Chamber of Commerce and the local Community Church.

Mildred is survived by two sons, Charles C. Daves and his wife Dorothy of Birdsview, WA. and their daughters  Shanna and Debra,  Lawrence J. Daves of Trenton, FL. and his son  Kenneth and daughter Laurie,  Verna J. Claybo of Deer Park, WA. and her daughter Lisa and son Gary, and Nelda G. Daves-Smith of Kennewick, WA. and her two daughters  Carla and Laine.

A step-son, Bill Ashe and his wife Connie of Renton, WA. and their children, Richard,  Michael, Tracy and Shawna  and twenty-two  great-grandchildren.

In addition to her immediate family, Mildred had a wealth of extended family members. Her open armed, non-judgemental, loving, and forgiving nature was apparent to all around her.  Mildred recognized good qualities in all people and would do her best to help out anyone in need.

Out of this large family, Mildred is survived by three sisters-in-law, Martha Beacraft, Jane Ball, and Joyce Daves.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clinton and Anna Palmer, her husband, Vernon Daves, her companion, Ray Ashe, and her son-in-law Kenneth Claybo.

Gravesides Services will be held on Saturday, April 17, 2010 at 2:00pm at the Hamilton Cemetery with Pastor Ron Edwards of the Hamilton First Baptist Church officiating.

A reception following the service will be held at the home of Charles and Dorothy Daves at 8370 Lusk Rd., Birdsview.

    Mildred was an avid member of the Tamarack Travelers, a camping group affiliated with Washington Granges. She was a member of Clayton Grange even though she could not attend meetings in recent years.
