Monte G. Stites, age 67, passed away Friday, August 11, 2006 at his home near Darrington, WA.
He was born April 25, 1939 in Skykomish, WA, the son of Harley and Cleo Bigelow Stites.
Monte was a resident of Darrington for the past 17 years, formally residing in Marysville for 6 years and prior to that in Everett for many years. He served in the US Army from 1959-1965. Monte was married to Linda Batchelor on August 10, 1989 at Weller’s Chalet in Arlington.
Monte worked as a equipment operator for Summit Timber Co for many years and later for Miller Shingle Co in Granite Falls as a night guard. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and photography.
He is survived by his wife Linda Stites of the family home in Darrington. His children, Mike Stites and his wife Karen of Darrington, Michelle Stites of Lake Stevens, Ron Stites of Everett, Erik Stites of Darrington, and step-sons, Tim Batchelor of Everett and Frank Batchelor and his companion Rose Croom of Darrington. 7 grandchildren, Scott, Heather, Jessica, Brandon, Christina, Justin, Channing and 3 great grandchildren, Jayden, Chandler, and Novalie. A brother, Earl Calkins of Everett and 3 sisters, Janet Stites of Everet, Mary Ellen Graham of Tonasket, and Bobbie Jo of Washington State. Numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Jack Stites and Glen Calkins and a sister Zona.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, August 18, 2006 at 2:00 PM at Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley. Memorials are suggested to Cardiac Care Unit, Providence Hospital Colby Campus, Everett, WA.
