Necia P. Rasmussen, 96, a longtime Skagit County resident, passed away on Monday, November 2, 2015 at the Where The Heart Is retirement community in Burlington.

Necia was born on October 9, 1919 in Everett, WA, the daughter of Wilbur & Sylvia (Hurd) Button.   Her family resided in several locations around the state until settling in the Marysville area.

On November 30, 1936 she was united in marriage to Stanley Rasmussen in Marysville and they made their home there until 1940 when they moved to Sedro-Woolley.   Necia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  When she was not doting on her family she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, playing cards, reading or donating her time with the American Legion Auxiliary or the Knights of Phythius.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Keith & Jean Rasmussen of Burlington and Necia & Elmer Field of Rockport;  a sister, Marianne Little of Anchorage, AK; a son-in-law, Al Alexander of Sedro-Woolley; 9 grandchildren, Necia Quast (Tim Collins), Timothy Quast (Sherry), Chad Field (Jodi), Karene Hoffman (Carl), Sheila DeHaan (Lee), Vanessa Eldridge (Adam), Kurt Rasmussen (Faye), Robin Gertz Price and Shelly Camacho; 22 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley; daughter, Susan Alexander; brother, Robert Button and sister, Wilma Hanseth.

Memorials in honor of Necia are suggested to the Mount Vernon Kidney Foundation or the Sedro-Woolley High School Alumni Association.  A Life Celebration will be held at a later date.

My husband and I would like to express our sincere sympathy to the family and friends of your beloved Necia. Although we never had the opportunity to meet Necia, personally, we wanted to share with you comfort from Gods word found in John 5:28,29. Here Jesus showed us a wonderful example of the resurrection when he resurrected Lazarus, here on earth, back to the arms of those he loved. (John 11) Remember also that our Heavenly Father expresses his loving compassion for all of us when someone we love dies. (Psalm 34:18) Be sure to share your memories with those who surround you, for the memories shared are the ones most truly cherished, may they bring you a sense of peace and joy in your hearts as you begin to heal. Take care of yourselves and each other during this very difficult time.
