Nelta June Walsh

Friday, February 10th, 2017

Nelta June Walsh, age 94, of Sedro-Woolley, passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at St Francis of Bellingham in Bellingham, Washington.
June was born May 12, 1922 in Bellingham to Earl and Olive (Smith) Daws. She was raised on the family farm in Ferndale and went to school and graduated from Ferndale High School.
June married Kenneth Walsh in 1941, in Ferndale. After a 1 year stay in Ferndale and 3 year stay in Custer, they moved to Blaine and spent the next 61 years. In 2006 June and Ken moved to Sedro Woolley living on her daughter Betty Kaye’s property. She really liked her new home and loved the mountain view off her deck. June enjoyed having three of her great-grandsons around as they kept her entertained. She enjoyed crocheting, camping, watching her Mariners and Seahawks, and of course all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
June worked as a retail checker in the Wolten & Montfort Grocery Store in Blaine for 20 years. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. She and Ken spent many years in Yuma, Arizona as snowbirds. There she loved to socialize and enjoyed her many friends.
June is survived by her three daughters, Karen and Randy Reid of Blaine, Judy Brown of Ferndale and Betty Kaye and Bob Deere of Sedro-Woolley; her brother Armand Daws, of Marysville; 7 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Bill Daws and her husband Ken.
Arrangements are under the care of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley. A memorial will be held at a later date.

I have only seen June occasionally in the past few years and was happy to see her smiling face in this guestbook. She had a life to celebrate with a long life and a happy family. I’m sure you will miss her but have lots of memories.

We will all miss June as she was the sweetest person. I’m so grateful that my children and I had the pleasure of spending time with her and her late husband Ken. We all have very fond memories. June was so blessed to have so much family support over the years.

My condolences go out to the family and most importantly my dear friend Kendra Cunningham. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. May your grandma rest in peace, and I am so sorry for your loss. She was a wonderful little lady with a huge heart. ?
