Nina May Barker, 94, a lifelong Skagit County resident, passed away on June 20, 2016 at her home in Burlington.
She was born on April 17, 1922 in Sauk, Washington, the daughter of Grant & Isabelle Conrad. Her parents and grandparents were raised and lived in the Sauk community.
Nina attended school in Rockport and Concrete.
In 1940 Nina married Sam Barker and they made their home and raised their family in Marblemount. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and great-grandmother.
Nina is survived by her daughters, Darlene Hurn, Carol Barker, Nancy Parker (Curt); son, Ben Barker (Debbie) and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded by in death by her husband Sam; son, Sam; sons-in-law, Allan Hurn and Jerry Rowden; grandson-in-law, Brad Conn; 3 brothers; 3 sisters and numerous extended family.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 2:00 PM at the North Cascades Christian Fellowship Church in Sedro-Woolley. Interment will be at Forest Park Cemetery in Concrete. Visitation is available from 9 am to 5 pm on Thursday & Friday at Lemley Chapel.
So sorry to learn of Nina’s passing. She was a true and loyal friend, and always one of my favorite people. In the trust that your abundant good memories will help sustain you, know that you are on my mind and in my heart.
My family would like to send sincere condolences to the Barker family for the loss of your dear loved one may you find comfort and hope from the bible promise at Isaiah 25:8. Pray constantly, avoid isolation, and lean on God as we cope during this difficult time.
Darlene, my heartfelt condolences to you and your family. Nina was a wonderful woman. She always had a smile. I know you will miss her dearly. So very sorry I couldn’t attend the memorial. I had a previous commitment.
