Norbert H. Sparrs, 94 years old, of Sedro-Woolley, passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2018.  Norby was born in Dawson, North Dakota on June 6, 1924 to John D. and Ida Grace (Graham) Sparrs.

The Sparrs family of twelve settled in Sedro-Woolley and he began his schooling at Sterling Grade School.  After moving to Burlington, he attended Lincoln Grade School and Burlington High School.  At high school, he excelled in athletics and was the third baseman on the 1941 County Championship Baseball Team.

In November, 1943, he joined the Army and went on to serve his country in Europe during World War II.  After coming home from military service, he met Marge Jean Jordan and they were married in October, 1946.  They made their home in Burlington and together they had three children.

During his life, Norby worked as a truck driver, carpenter and for the Burlington Edison School District.  He liked bowling, dancing and country music from the singers of his time.  But, most important to him was his family.  He was a genuine family man.

In 1978, Norby married Louise V. Tunell.  They made their home in Sedro-Woolley spending many happy years together.

Norby is survived by his children, Dennis Sparrs, Douglas (Jennifer) Sparrs and Patti Timmons; grandchildren, Carly (Aron) Tomassi, Mark Pegram, Kendal Gentry, Adam (Mary) Sparrs, Dana (William) Alexander, Doug Sparrs, Jr., Jordan Sparrs and Crystal (Brad) Vance, twelve great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, and sister in law, Luana Tanck.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John D. and Ida Grace (Graham) Sparrs; siblings, Myrtle, John, Charles, Ida, George, Howard, Murray, Robert and Evelyn; wife, Louise V. Tunell.

On Thursday, July 19, 2018, at 1:00 pm, a Graveside Service for Norby will be held at the Green Hills Cemetery in Burlington.  A time of visitation will be available from 9:00 to 5:00, Wednesday, July 18 at Lemley Chapel, 1008 Third Street, Sedro-Woolley.

    Sincere thoughts and prayers for your family. I was so happy to run into Doug & Norby at Fred Meyers earlier this year. Doug helped Norby remember when Doug & Dennis played ⚾️ on our little league team& they were the Champs. A fun, good visit.
