Norman Gilbert Meins, age 93, passed away on Sunday, November 28, 2010 at the Life Care Center of Skagit Valley in Sedro-Woolley, Washington.

He was born April 25, 1917 on the Meins homestead on the south side of the Skagit River near Hamilton, Washington, the son of Edward and Mary (Ryan) Meins.

Norman attended school in Sedro-Woolley and graduated from Sedro-Woolley High School in 1937.  He worked on the family farm until operating his own farm in the Upper Samish / Prairie area for many years.

Norman was united in marriage to Gertrude Butler on September 22, 1950 at the Presbyterian Church in Sedro-Woolley and they celebrated 60 years together this year.  He attended the Presbyterian Church for 30 years and was a former member of the Elks.

Norman is survived by his wife, Gertrude at the family home in Sedro-Woolley. Two sisters, Clara Boyd of Darrington, WA and Patty Johnson of Sparks, NV; five nieces and eight nephews.

At Norman’s request there are to be no services. Private Entombment will be at Hawthorne Memorial Park in Mount Vernon.   Arrangements are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
