Odell gave me my first start of tar hill bean seed and told me to always keep them in the freezer so they would sprout faster and better. He was a dandy and i, loved him so much. I went up to his house to pick beans so mamma and I could put some away. because he planted too many and he told me he couldn’t eat them anymore, of course he knew this before he planted the huge garden full, he loved for people to come over and he could make someone smile, but he did say that he did eat a few. Odell and Margie raised beautiful children and i have had the opportunity to know them all. Rest in peace and you and my mom and daddy eat beans all you want cause there is no restrictions or sickness where you all are. Claudia Fore Marlow./

Kay, Doyle, and Dale: Your Dad was such an inspiration to so many people. The Straathof Family was so blessed to have had time with your mom and dad. Margie always wanted me to stop by on my way home from school and was such an inspiration to me during some difficult times in my life. Odie always invited me over to his place in Hamilton after he remarried to get a “mess” of green beans – Tarheel Beans! They both were very good to me and I will remember them always. Thank you for sharing their lives with all of us. I love you all.

    Love, Sally

Kaye, Dale and Doyle, and the rest of the family,

My heartaches for you and your family, in your recent loss of your dad. You do have all the sweet memories to think about. He is not gone, but he is just away, and you all will be reunited with him someday and it will be so wonderful then. He is not gone he is with you everyday and looking down on you and smiling in his loving way.

I know Bruce has talked about Odell, their visits, their fishing trips and his gardens. Bruce loved him like he was his own Dad, I know he will miss him so much and the special time he had with him, thanks for sharing your family with Bruce, he respects and loves you guys so much.

Odell is busy walking those streets of gold and resting in the arms of Jesus, with no more sadness, suffering or sorrow, and think of all the precious memories you have of him, his good name, the type of father he was, his love and kindness to you and your friends.

God Bless each and every one of you. Barb Snell & Family

    Kaye, Doyle and Dale,
I’m so sorry your dads no longer here to talk to and learn from. But the love and memories are enough to last for many life times. We will all miss Odell. He was an icon in Hamilton for so many years. I still remember him and Margie at the Hamilton church with the whole family beside them. The best place to learn about love and family. Know that Mack and I are here for anything that you need. God Bless you all and keep you strong.
    Love,
    Mack and Juanita

We send our deepest condolences to you all as you grieve over the loss of your loved one.
Doyle, you may remember that your Dad worked with and for my Dad, Bill Iund, when you and I were first graders in Mrs. Ellenburger’s class. The trips to your parents were always a happy event as our parents talked and we children played.

When I think of my dad I remember a verse in the bible that says “a father has no greater joy than to know that his children walk in truth” That was the most important thing in my dads life. He not only taught us about God he lived it in front of us. He was the leader and hero in our home. I love you dad.

    Papa Odie,
You were a one of a kind man. Your knowledge and helpfulness will be missed. You have taught me so much and I will forever be gratefull. Whether it was raising kids, gardening, canning,or a new recipe I could always count on you for an answer. I will miss your smile, your phone calls, the gum in your pocket ready to hand out to the kids but most of all your friendship. I hope to pass down to my daughters one day the knowledge you have given me. I love you and will miss you dearly!

    Love,
    Jenny Runner
