Otha S. Parker Cook passed away Sunday, March 2, 2003 at the Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon, WA at the age of 90 years. She was born October 11, 1912 in Jackson County, North Carolina the daughter of Wilbur and Gertrude Reece Shelton. Otha was a resident of Sedro-Woolley since 1955 coming here from North Carolina. She was married to Robert L. Parker in 1929 and he preceded her in death in 1943. Otha later married Paul L. Cook in 1955 and he preceded her in death in 1964. She enjoyed cooking, canning, gardening, flowers, and working outside, but she especially enjoyed cooking large meals for her family. Otha loved her children and grandchildren and she was a true southern lady. She also enjoyed traveling by travel trailer with her longtime companion Gordon Hockett. Otha is survived by her children Carlton E. Parker of Arlington, Blanche and her husband Frank Moore and Evelyn and her husband Hez Dills all of Sedro-Woolley, Reva and her husband Jim Johnson of Birdsview, Larki and her husband Chris Thunn of Eatonville, and Lyle Cook of Mount Vernon. 14 grandchildren Dale and his wife Heon McMahan, Cathy Hall, Dee McMahan, Stan and his wife Cheryl McMahan, Pam and her husband Don Jenkins, Mike Parker, Debbie and her husband Jeff Thompson, Diane and her husband Ron Norris, Donnie Anderson and his companion Melissa Leber, Cindy Dills and her companion Rick Wenrick , Sheila Ensley, Robbie and his wife Paige Aldridge, Lincoln Aldridge and his companion Becky Moore and Chad and his wife Katareeya Aldridge. 22 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren, and her longtime companion Gordon Hockett. A brother Coyie and his wife Jewell Shelton of Rosman, NC and 3 sisters Geraldine and her husband Arther Whitmire of Lake Toxaway, NC, Mary Dee and her husband Bill Bruner of Rosman, NC, and Helen Shelton of Greensville, SC. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers Tinsley, Rob, and Leonard and 1 great grandson Michael McMahan.
Funeral Services will be Friday, March 7, 2003 at 11:00AM at Lemley Chapel with Pastor Leon Meyer of the Calvary Baptist Church in Burlington officiating. Interment to follow at the Lyman Cemetery.
