Paul Gary Mathias, Jr., age 18, passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2009 in Auburn, WA.

He was born November 5, 1990 in Mount Vernon, WA and was raised on the Upper Skagit Reservation in Sedro-Woolley. Paul attended grade school and high school in Sedro-Woolley and the Two Eagle River High School in Pablo, Montana.

He was enrolled in the Kootenai Tribe in Elmo, Montana where he spent the last two years of his life. Paul loved to play basketball, football, guitar hero, stick games, and hunt and fish. He was baptized and was a member of the 1910 Indian Shaker Church of Concrete.

Paul is survived by his daughter, Audrey Elizabeth Kenmille, and his girl friend, Michelle Kenmille of Elmo, MT. His mother, Darlene Sam and Tony Moses Sr. of Sedro-|Woolley. Father, Paul Mathias Sr. of Elmo, MT. Brothers and sisters, Sara Sam and her companion William Thompson of Auburn, Maggie Sam and her companion James Shale of Mount Vernon, Douglas Mikey Edwards and his wife Jenna of Auburn, Mariya Mathias of Sedro-Woolley, Seneca Incashola of Elmo, MT, and Kunu Roth of Elmo, MT. Step-brothers and sisters, Tony and Kyle Moses of Tulalip, Deidre Edwards, Sherrena Edwards, Celeste Edwards, Crystal Edwards, and Joey Courville all of Auburn, WA. Grandparents, Harlan and Darlene Sam Sr. of Sedro-Woolley and Helen Charlo of Elmo, Mt. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles in Washington and Montana and a great-great uncle, Henry ‘Smokey’ Lyle of Sedro-Woolley. God parents, Laura ‘Benally’ Sam and Jerry Benally. God children, Leila, Robert and Westin Sam, Rianna Thompson, and Dakota Edwards.

Prayer Services will be Thursday, September 3, 2009 at 7:00 PM and a Funeral Service will follow on Friday, September 4, 2009 at 10:00AM at the 1910 Indian Shaker Church of Concrete with First State Board Elder Frances ‘Hoss’ Tulee officiating with burial to follow at the Hamilton Indian Cemetery. A dinner will follow the services at the 1910 Indian Shaker Church on Sauk Valley Rd in Concrete. Arrangements and Services under the care of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
