Phillip Adams, Sr.

Wednesday, August 7th, 2024

Phillip Eugene Adams Sr, 75, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at his  home in Sedro-Woolley, Washington with his loving wife by his side. He was born on October  31, 1948 in Sedro-Woolley, Washington, the son of Floyd and Betty Jean (Roedell) Adams. Phil grew up in the Day Creek community. He graduated from Sedro-Woolley High School with  the class of 67. He married his high school sweetheart, Karen Adams on April 6, 1968. He  received his induction notice for the US Army the day before his wedding and had to report to  Fort Lewis, WA a month later. Then he went to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri for  advanced training as a heavy equipment operator. After his advanced training he was sent to  Heilbronn, Germany for his duty station during the Vietnam War. Karen joined him there 3  months later.

After being discharged from the US Army he went right into the logging industry. He worked as a  logger in the timber industry for many logging companies in Washington and Alaska He also worked in many aspects of logging, he started out as a rigging man, then on to an equipment  operator, a timber faller and a logging truck driver. He and his family spent 8 years in Southeast Alaska, on Prince of Wales Island logging for Louisiana Pacific Corporation at Thorne Bay. He  spent about 43 years in logging until his accident on the way to work in 2013. That accident  caused a spinal cord injury, and he wasn’t able to work again.

He was a devoted husband and father to their two children. 7 grandchildren, and 8 great  grandchildren. He enjoyed water skiing, fishing and golf in his early years, camping and riding his  motorcycle in the sunshine. He took great pride in his yard, always looking nice. Phil was known  as a hard worker and was always willing to help others. He would always take the time to show loggers how to splice or take a new guy under his wing and show him the ropes. He always  wanted his truck, camper and motorcycle clean and took pride in his own hygiene as well as his vehicles. Phil enjoyed telling stories and playing jokes or pranks on family and friends, and if he got your goat, he would be very amused by it.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Irene Adams, of the family home in Sedro-Woolley, WA;  2 children, Shirley Irene (Wade) Pettigrew, of Acme,  Phillip Eugene “Butch” Adams Jr., of Hoquiam; 7 grandchildren Naomi (Max), Dillon and Wyatt, Shane (Elizabeth) of Humptulips, Dakota of Hoquiam, MacKenzie (fiance’ Tony), of Aberdeen,  Zach of Hoquiam; 8 great grandchildren, Leah, Millie, Eevie, Zayne, Serenity, Dayton, Avarie, and  Nellie, of Grays Harbor County; brother, Edwin (Nancy) Adams, of Puyallup, Danny  (Loretta) Adams, of Bow, Sandra Adams, of Oro Valley, Arizona, Cynda (Bill) Hume, of Crooked River Ranch, Oregon; many nieces, nephews; his special  Boston Terrier, Sassy, his wife’s Boston Terrier, Missy.

The family suggests that donations be made to Noah, the Humane Society of Skagit County or a charity of your choice.
