Reka Dyksterhuis a longtime resident of Skagit County passed away Monday, April 21, 2003 at the Life Care Center of Skagit Valley in Sedro-Woolley, WA at the age of 97 years. She was born December 6, 1905 in Lynden, WA the daughter of Guy and Grace Alferink Dyk. Reka grew up and lived in Whatcom County until moving to Skagit County in 1941. She was married to Abel Dyksterhuis in 1926 in Everett, WA and he preceded her in death in October of 1948. Reka worked at various jobs over the years and she enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and gardening. She will be remembered as a very good Mom and a generous person. Reka is survived by her son Gregory Gene ‘Dutch’ Dyksterhuis of Mountlake Terrace, WA and daughters Grace and her husband Gordon Bos of Puyallup, Hilda and her husband Bill Tippet of Santa Clarita, CA, and Myrna Scallion of Concrete. A sister Hattie TeSelle of Lynden, WA. 18 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, 9 great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Abel, daughter and son in law Audrey and Ralph Bolles, granddaughter Carol Martin, a grandson and great grandson, and a daughter in law Ruth Dyksterhuis.
Visitation will be Friday April 25th from 9AM to 5PM and Saturday from 9AM to service time at Lemley Chapel with Graveside Services to follow on Saturday April 26, 2003 at 2PM at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery with Pastor Bruce Martin of the Concrete Assembly of God Church officiating.
