Robert L. ‘Bob’ Hoffman, 82, a lifetime Sedro-Woolley, Washington resident, passed away Saturday, September 28, 2024, while in the care of his family at their home with support of Skagit Hospice.
Bob was born December 3, 1941 in Sedro-Woolley to Lester and Evelyn (Wood) Hoffman. He attended Sedro-Woolley schools and graduated with the class of 1961. He was a Cubs wrestler and member of the boxing club. He was a scrappy fighter, right to the end.
After graduation, Bob completed a five-year apprenticeship and was a life member of Local 26 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union. Though he worked in many states throughout the country, Snelson’s (one of his primary employers) was his favorite. He was a hard worker and known as a “hard ass” to work for. He also owned a small, independent, local plumbing and heating business and built many of his own homes.
Bob was quick with a smile and his own brand of advice and humor. Everyone that knew him, would see him coming a mile away with that huge smile and friendly conversation.
He was a present, protective and supportive parent in raising his daughters. Always telling them “Don’t take any wooden nickels” to caution them of dangerous situations or scams. Bob aimed to be no one’s fool and he didn’t want his loved ones to be either.
Bob loved attending social gatherings, where he could tell stories of the good old days and eat his weight in food. He enjoyed hunting with longtime friends and later enjoyed hunting in Winthrop with his daughters and grandson. Bob hunted until he physically couldn’t climb that mountain anymore.
He is survived by his eldest daughter, Shawna (Fred) Turcott, youngest daughter, Heidi ‘Ho’ Hamilton (Jarrod Mansfield); grandchildren, Tiffany Wilson, Karri Lynn Wilson (Rick Brotzel), Braelyn Hamilton, Taylen (Rachel) Hamilton; four great-grandchildren, Michael, Bailee, Kinzli and Tripp; nephew, Scott (Jo) Cruse; his beloved dog, Annie; numerous extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Patty & Chuck Cruse; niece, Michelle Cruse.
Bob will be placed at rest at Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at 11:00am with Pastor George Henson presiding. A Celebration of Life will follow the graveside service at the Burlington Eagles at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributions for Hospice of the Northwest, Cancer research, or Humane Society of Skagit Valley.
Sending our condolences on the passing of Bob. Our hearts go out to the Hamilton Family during this difficult time. We met the Hamilton’s back in the 80’s as our Winthrop neighbors. We always looked forward to seeing Bob and his family during hunting season. Though Bob wasn’t able to hunt the last few years, he still came up and we always enjoyed getting to see him and having him come over for dinners and sit by the campfire. We will cherish these memories of Bob in our hearts. Sending thoughts and prayers to the Hamilton Family.
He was a great man he will truly be missed
