Robert VanDelinder

Monday, July 5th, 2021

Robert (Bob) L. VanDelinder has passed away after a lengthy illness.

Bob attended Burlington-Edison High School where he excelled in sports, winning the state wrestling title his senior year.  After graduating in 1962, Bob spent 3 years in the Army, including service overseas, before returning to Skagit County where he attended Skagit Valley College.  He later attended Western Washington University earning a bachelor’s degree in Education.  Bob spent many years teaching and coaching in Alaska before once again returning to Skagit County and running his own janitorial business.

Bob was known for his kindness and generosity.  He was a compassionate person who was always trying to bring a smile to those he encountered.  Bob was especially generous with the flowers he grew in his home garden and was known to bring beautiful bouquets to give away whenever he had the opportunity.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Steve and Amber Lowe of Billings, Montana; two grandsons, Caleb Lowe of Bozeman, Montana, and Matthew Lowe of Billings, Montana; one brother, Charles VanDelinder, of Sedro-Woolley, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00, Thursday, July 15, 2021, at Lemley Chapel, 1008 Third Street, Sedro-Woolley.  Share your memories of Bob and sign the online guest register.

I met Bob in high school and have always thought of him as a good friend. He was fun, very kind and caring. He really enjoyed his time playing football and wrestling at BEHS and he was excellent at both sports. Bob was very proud of his teaching career, the coaching aspect was a bonus to him. He is the kind of person this world needs more of, one of the good guys. I feel very fortunate to have known him and being a friend of his. I am so sorry for your loss.
