Roland ‘Roy’ Leishman

Friday, May 18th, 2018

Roland ‘Roy’ Alvin Leishman, 94, went to be with his Lord, Friday, May 18, 2018. Roy was born to Alvin and Hilda Leishman in Spokane, WA on July 22, 1923, and grew up in Marysville, WA. He was married to Marian Hoffman on September 19, 1942.

At age nine, Roy took over a paper route for a major Seattle newspaper, and by the time he graduated high school, World War II had broken out, so he went to work in the shipyards as an electrician. He ran an appliance store after the war, and then went to work as a salesman for children’s clothing manufacturers, covering the states of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Montana. Later, in 1962, he went to work for an auto-visual company in Seattle. Then in 1972, he started his own business named MARVL Productions, where he and Marion ran a recording business for conferences, seminars, and retreats from coast to coast. This gave them the opportunity to see the country, meet many and varied people, and work together for 35 years. When not working, Roy spent many hours building houses, gardening and was a passionate fire wood cutter.

Roy is survived by his wife, Marian of Concrete; brother, Gilbert Leishman of Moses Lake, WA; sons, Terry Leishman (Susan) of Rockport, Jack Leishman (Brenda) of Ashland, OR, Craig Leishman of Kennewick, WA; daughter, Kim Babcock (Roger) of Concrete, WA; grandchildren, Stacy Novy, Jessica Dickinson, Nathan Leishman, Cooper Leishman, Allecia Olson, Jesse Babcock, Rebecca Sample, and Joe Babcock; great-grandchildren, Brandon Decker, Dillon Decker, Mariah Allen, Peyton Dickinson, Tyler Dickinson, Wyatt Leishman, Ava Jones, Olivia Olson, and Morgan Sample; great-great granddaughter, Olivia Decker, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Hilda Leishman; sister and brother in law, Chaunce and Enid Wight, and granddaughter, Christy Eubanks.

The family wishes to thank the entire staff at Where The Heart Is, memory care facility, for making Roy’s last two years ones of peace and comfort.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, July 21, 2018 at the Community Bible Church of Concrete with Pastor Rob Thomas officiating.
