SAMUEL E. PATTISON, 85, A Concrete area resident passed away on Wednesday August 7, 2002 at the Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon. He was born on May 17, 1917 in Martin’s Ferry, Ohio, the son of William & Kate Tanks Pattison. He was raised and attained his education in Ohio. In 1937 he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the Army’s Special Forces division from 1941 until his discharge in 1961. Sam worked as a lead sliterman for the American Container Corporation of America, operating the machinery that would cut enormous paper rolls to the correct dimensions to make containers.
He was united in marriage to Lilly Davis in Glendale CA on August 18, 1947. They moved to Skagit County in 1982 following Sam’s retirement. She preceded him in death in 1992. Sam was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Sedro-Woolley where he sang in the choir. Was a member of the Concrete Eagles, Aerie 1444 and the Sedro-Woolley Senior Center.
He is survived by his son, Stevean Soloman Pattison of New Castle, PA and his daughter, Kattie Tanks and her husband Brad Fields of Concrete, WA. 6 grandchildren, W.C. Fields, Michael Paul Fields, Charles Dean Powell, Heather Tanks, Maria Smith and Josh Hendrix.
3 great-grandchildren, Chuck & Pamulla Powell and Brandon Fields. 2 sisters, Golda Richardson in Ohio and Bertha Blueheart in Pennsylvania. 3 brothers, Pete & Darrell Pattison in Ohio and Fred Pattison in Florida. Also numerous nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
A Life Celebration and Pot Luck gathering was held Sunday August 18, 2002 at 3:00 PM at the Howard Miller State Park in Rockport, WA.
