Our beloved wife, mom, Nanny, sister, and friend Tammy Batchelor, 66, of Sedro-Woolley, went home to be with the Lord suddenly, surrounded by her entire family, on Monday, March 3, 2025. Tammy was born on July 22, 1958 to William Vandygriff and Loretta (Foster) Calvert in Anacortes, WA. She was married to Frank Batchelor on February 26, 1977, celebrating their 48th anniversary together last week.
Tammy was raised in Anacortes with her sister Lisa and numerous cousins. At the age of 18 and only two months of courtship, Tammy and Frank were married and moved to a farm in Lyman, WA before buying their first home and settling in Sedro-Woolley to raise their family.
Tammy has been a caretaker her entire life. She and Frank opened their home to those that needed it. In addition to their own kids, nieces, countless foster kids, and friends called their house home. She worked in a nursing home off and on, caring for the elderly before calling it quits to care for grandkids while her kids worked. She didn’t want no strangers raising her grandkids!
Tammy’s home was always warm and welcoming with food to eat, coffee to drink, and music to hear. Tammy loved music! There was rarely a moment without her Bluegrass, Country, or Classic Rock playing in the background. Tammy loved to decorate the house and host parties and get togethers for any and all occasions! Her house was a hub for all family and friends to gather. She loved nothing more than bringing and keeping people together, except for maybe shopping…
Tammy loved Anacortes and visiting the beach. She loved spending time with her extended family in East Tennessee. Garage sales with her mom and mother-in-law, thrift stores, swap meets, fairs, concerts, cornbread and milk, and Fall were some of her favorite things.
Tammy is survived by her husband, Frank Batchelor; son, Frankie Batchelor and wife Adel, son Michael Batchelor and wife Toni, daughter Melissa Maldonado and husband Gabe, son Gavin Batchelor, daughter Michele Geary; grandkids Rozlin, William, Victoria, Georgia, Leyla, Paycee, Delilah, Charlie, and Cecelia. Tammy missed the birth of her first great grandkid by just one short month. Sisters Lisa Huete and Debbie Cox. Nieces Emily Kitchens, Rachel Miller, Chloe Huete, and Leia Davis, and many more…
Tammy is preceded in death by her parents William Vandygriff and Loretta Calvert; father and mother-in-law Frank and Betty Batchelor; brother John Thomas.
Funeral arrangements will be held Monday, March 10, 2025 at Lemley Chapel in Sedro-Woolley, viewing beginning at 8 AM, service at noon, with graveside following at the Hamilton Cemetery in Hamilton, WA. We will gather at Frank and Tammy’s house (24583 E. State St.) following burial for some food, coffee, and company. Arrangements are under the care of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley. Please share your memories of Tammy and sign the on-line guest register.
