Thomas G. Morris, 60, of Mount Vernon passed away peacefully on Thursday April 5, 2018.
Tom was born on December 12, 1957 to Thomas and Novello Morris in Mount Vernon, Washington.
He was married to Debbie Cargile on July 25, 1980. Tom was the youngest of three and the only boy. He graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1976. After graduation, he began a welding apprenticeship and started working at Western Gear in Everett. He remained in the welding industry, earning many welding and inspection certificates. Tom most recently worked as a Certified Welding Inspector.
Tom loved hunting, fishing and being outdoors. He loved it even more if he was with his son. If it involved getting crab, shrimp, ducks and geese, he did it. Tom was a member of a duck hunting club and could spend hours upon hours at the duck shack. He restored a 1972 Mustang Mach 1 which was his pride and joy. Anyone who spent time with Tom also knew he loved to putt around his shop and property. There was always a project to be done. Tom also helped numerous people get involved in his industry by teaching them how to weld and get a job. He loved to teach and could talk forever about welding, work, and just about anything. Tom loved to spend time with his family and spoil his grandkids.
Tom is survived by his wife, Debbie of Mount Vernon; son, Thomas J. Morris (Ellen) of Mount Vernon; grandchildren, John and Elizabeth; sisters, Beverly (Tom) Asaif and Patricia Morris; mother-in-law, Sharron Cargile; sisters-in-law Jennie (Darin) Brewer, Vickie Cargile, and Pattie Cassidy and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his son, Joshua; parents, Thomas and Novello; father-in-law, Jim Cargile and nephew, Jason Wicker.
Tom made it clear to his family that he did not want a funeral. Instead, we will be having a party in his honor on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at 1:00PM at the TERA building in Anacortes, 10200 West March Point Rd., next to Andeavor Refinery.

The world is the poorer for Tom’s passing, and we are all the richer for having known, loved, and had the opportunity to spend time with Tom. He was one of a kind and I’m proud to have called him a friend and enjoy his company. Deepest condolences to Debbie, TJ and family.
