Tony Perez Murillo, Jr.

Thursday, February 6th, 2003

TONY P. MURILLO, Jr., 57, a Sedro-Woolley area resident and supporter, passed away on Thursday February 6, 2003, surrounded by his loving family following a brief illness.
Tony was born on January 9, 1946 in San Jose, CA, the son of Tony M. & Rita Perez Murillo. He was raised and attended school in Canoga Park, CA. In the early 1960’s he was working at the local VA Hospital and met Rita Avila. They were married in October of 1967 and they made their home in California until moving to the Olympic Peninsula in Washington in 1971. In 1982 they came to Sedro-Woolley. Tony had worked as a contract carpenter for many years. Tony’s biggest joy was doing for and the helping for others.
He volunteered more than just his time for civic and youth activities in and around the Sedro-Woolley area. He volunteered countless hours as a coach for the Steelclaw Wrestling Club, the Sedro-Woolley Youth Little League Assoc. and the Sedro-Woolley Youth Soccer program. He often was the first to arrive to prepare for an event and the last to leave after the cleanup was done. He lived for and loved those kids. He was well known around his little athletes as ‘Coach’ or ‘Gramps’. He also volunteered his time for several civic organizations.
Tony is survived by his wife Rita at the family home in Sedro-Woolley. His daughter and son-in-law, Rita Lorraine & Butch Johnsen. His grandchildren, James & Alfred ‘Bo’ Murillo and Julie Johnsen. His mother, Rita Murillo. His 8 siblings, Tonia Amado, Herman Murillo, Alice Morales, Trinidad Gonzales, Mary, Arnold, Bill and Gilbert Murillo. Also numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Tony, a sister Margaret Ramirez and a brother Alfred Murillo.
The family suggests memorials be made to Sedro-Woolley Little League.
