  Verna Beatrice Henderson, age 101, passed away at her home in Clear Lake, surrounded by her family on Thursday, September 18, 2014.
She was born on September 15, 1913 in Powers Lake, North Dakota, the daughter of Derk & Anna (Knott) Edzenga. She was raised North Dakota until the family moved to Clear Lake in 1922 and she attended school in Sedro-Woolley, graduating from Sedro-Woolley High School with the class of 1931.
In 1933 she was united in marriage to Lyle Henderson in Clear Lake and they made their home in Hamilton until 1939 when they moved to Anacortes and then Everett for a while, then during WWII made their home in Bremerton and where Verna first worked as a truck driver and then a clerk/typist at the naval shipyard. In 1949 they moved to Montana where she and Lyle sold cookware, doing in home demonstrations. They later lived for a while in Salt Lake City, Utah before returning to Bremerton and finally settled again in Clear Lake in 1972.
Verna enjoyed cooking, crocheting and ceramics and was a longtime member of the Community Covenant Church.
Verna is survived by her children, Lois Ann Clay of Clear Lake, Lyle Henderson of Mount Vernon and Arlene Hudson and her husband Walt of Mount Vernon; 9 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 23 great-great grandchildren and 2 nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Lyle in 1993, a sister, Clara Allen, 2 grandchildren and 2 nephews.
The family suggests that memorials in honor of Verna be made to the Clear Lake Community Covenant Church.

Funeral Services will be held at the Community Covenant Church in Clear Lake on Sunday, September 28, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Tim Hedberg officiating. Interment will be at the Clear Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be available at Lemley Chapel Monday thru Saturday from 9am to 5 pm.
