Violet B. Thomson, 90, a resident of Seattle, passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at Evergreen Hospice in Kirkland, Washington.
She was born on February 18, 1919 in Sedro-Woolley, the daughter of Harry & Berdette V. Terwilleger Kimsey.
Violet was raised in Sedro-Woolley until the family moved to Seattle in the mid 1930’s.
On her 18th birthday, February 18, 1937 she was united in marriage to Walter W. Thomson in Seattle. They made their home in the Lake City area of Seattle where they raised their family and Violet was a devoted wife and mother.
In 1966 they returned to Sedro-Woolley and Violet worked as a waitress for a while and then as a L.P.N. at Northern State Hospital until it’s closure in the mid 1970’s after which she would commute to the Fircrest Hospital in Seattle.
Walt passed away in 1977 and she eventually moved to Mount Vernon before moving to Seattle to be near her family.
She enjoyed crocheting and playing bingo.
She is survived by her sons, Walter W. ‘Skip’ Thomson, Jr. and his wife, Gerry of Edmonds, Douglas C. Thomson and his companion Kathy Johnson of Casa Grande, AZ and Theodore H. ‘Ted’ Thomson of Blaine and her daughter, Carol M. Mueller and her husband, Walt of Bothell.
12 grandchildren, numerous great and great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walt Sr. and two sisters, Doreen Hademan and Connie Unruh.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 24, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at Lemley Chapel in Sedro-Woolley with her grandson, Father Sean Patrick Thomson of Fairbanks, Alaska, Celebrant. Interment will follow at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery.
