VIRGIL M. RIGGLES, 85, a longtime resident of Sedro-Woolley passed away on Saturday March 1, 2003 at the Life Care of Skagit Valley in Sedro-Woolley. He was born on March 13, 1917 in Sedro-Woolley the son of Homer and Margaret Wagner Riggles. He was raised and attended school in Sedro-Woolley. After graduation he moved to the Seattle area and worked for Seattle Hardware before enlisting in the US Navy. Virgil was united in marriage to Marvel Fagnant on November 14, 1942 in Seattle. They later moved to Sedro-Woolley where he worked as a logger, and later worked at Northern State Hospital and Bean Hardware. Virgil enjoyed hunting, fishing and raising cattle on the family farm.
He is survived by his wife Marvel at the family home in Sedro-Woolley and his daughter Shirlee Hall and her husband Jim of Kirkland, WA. 3 brothers; Orville Riggles and his wife Ruth of Mount Vernon, Ernest Riggles and his wife June of Sedro-Woolley, Charles Riggles of Sedro-Woolley, a sister-in-law Grace Johnson of Sedro-Woolley and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother Ralph. The family suggests memorials be made to the American Heart Association. A Memorial Service will be held at Lemley Chapel on Tuesday March 11, 2003 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Ron Schenk of the Lyman Baptist Church officiating.
