Virginia C. Burress, a longtime Lyman area resident, passed away on Sunday December 23, 2007 at United General Hospital in Sedro-Woolley.
She was born on July 25th in Wilson County, North Carolina, the daughter of James W. and Ada Laddie Pittman and was one of eleven children.
Virginia was united in marriage to C. L. Burress on December 3, 1941 in Dillion, South Carolina. They came to Washington in 1950 and made their home in Lyman, residing there until 1984 when they moved to Sedro-Woolley.
Virginia was a cast member of the Wild Women of Woolley, and enjoyed performing, dancing, gardening and traveling, and most of all spending time with her family, grandsons, great grandchildren and friends.
As a dedicated member of the Valley Baptist Church in Sedro-Woolley, she was someone who would never turn her back on someone in need, and could always be counted on to help in any way she could.
She is survived by her loving friend, Myron Nielson of Sedro-Woolley. Myron and Virginia spent 20+ years together traveling extensively, and enjoying every single mile and minute of their time together.
Her daughter, Brenda Joyce McGhee and special friend, Gary West of Oak Harbor, WA. Two grandsons, Scott Lee Martinson and his wife Stacie, their children, India and Nikolas of Mt. Vernon, WA. Tim Ray Martinson and his wife Nicole of Burlington, WA and their children, Logan, Mitchell, and Tessa.
Her brother, Harold Pittman and his wife Pat, of Sedro-Woolley, WA and two sisters, Edith and Maybell of North Carolina. Beloved nieces, Debbie Connor and Vikki Christofferson. Debbie’s husband, Patrick of Clearlake, WA. Their daughter, Brianne, and Debbie’s granddaughter Alexis, of Sedro-Woolley, WA. Vikki’s husband Scott and their daughters Kelly and Krista of Sedro Woolley WA.
She was preceded in death by her husband C.L. in 1984; five sisters Sadie, Ruby, Evelyn, Lillian, and Willistine, and two brothers, Grady and D.L.

We will miss you Grandma Ginny, and you will always be in our hearts.
Graveside services will be held on Friday December 28, 2007 at 2:00pm at the Lyman Cemetery with Pastor Mike Osborne officiating.
The family suggests memorials be made to North Puget Oncology in Sedro-Woolley. Arrangements are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
