W. Lee Everett, 93, a longtime Sedro-Woolley resident, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, December 15, 2007 with his beloved wife Arlene at his side.
Lee was born on March 8, 1914 in Custer, Washington, the son of Henry W. & Mary Aason Everett. He was raised and attended school in Whatcom County and Bellingham, graduating from Bellingham High School in 1932. In the mid 1930’s he began a long career as a long haul truck driver.
On April 14, 1940 Lee was united in marriage to Thelma Hedden in Seattle and they made their home there until Lee enlisted in the U.S. Merchant Marines during WW II, working on ships transporting troops and supplies in the South Pacific. After his discharge in 1945 Lee and Thelma made their home in California where Lee continued to work as a truck driver for ONC Trucking. In 1972 they moved to Sedro-Woolley after Lee retired from driving.
Thelma preceded him in death in March of 1991. In December of 1991 he married Arlene Henderson.
Lee was a member of the Teamsters Union, the American Legion Post 43 in Sedro-Woolley and a 14 year member of the Community Covenant Church in Clear Lake. Lee was also an avid grouse hunter.
Besides his wife Thelma, Lee was also preceded in death by his parents; 4 sisters, Hazel, Belvidere, Eileen and Beryl; a brother, John and a nephew Mark Everett.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Arlene at the family home in Sedro-Woolley. Nephews, Paul, Joel & Jonathan Everett, Bill & David Brummel and Fred Langford. His mother-in-law, Verna Henderson; sister-in-law, Lois Ann Clay and brother-in-law, Lyle Henderson. 3 step-sons, Frank, Tommas and Richard Ibarra, 4 step-grandchildren and 3 step-great-grandchildren. Memorials are suggested to the Clear Lake Community Covenant Church.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 21, 2007 at 2:00 PM at the Community Covenant Church in Clear Lake with Pastor Tim Hedberg officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery. Visitation is available at and services are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
