Willard W. Metcalf, 84, a lifelong upper Skagit Valley resident, passed away at his home in Hamilton on Tuesday, May 2, 2017.
Willard was born in Mount Vernon, WA on December 27, 1932, the son of Theodore & Mary Jane (Daves) Metcalf. He was raised and attended school in the upper Skagit Valley.
At an early age Willard began a long career in the timber industry, working in many areas of logging over the years, but worked mostly as a tree faller, working in Alaska and throughout the Pacific Northwest. He also worked as a contract cutter thru his own business, Metcalf Cutting, until his retirement in the early 1970’s.
Willard was an AVID hunter and fisherman, was an exceptional motor mechanic and was a Jack of All Trades when it came to fixing or repairing things in his shop.
Willard is survived by his wife of nearly 36 years, Marilyn (Wasson), at the family home; his children and their spouses, Mike & Rhonda Metcalf of Concrete, Sherry & Mike Petty of Hamilton, Randy & Brenda Schope of Alger, Leon Schope of Sedro-Woolley, Doug & Donna Brown of Ferndale, Rita & Mike Clark of Boring, OR, Debora Brown of Everett, Tina Moyer of Fayetteville, GA and Cheryl Parmenter of Independence, OR; his brother, Ted Metcalf and wife Mary of Longview, WA and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Mary; 3 brothers, Leland, Charles and Stanley Metcalf and a sister, Delores McCoy.
The family requests that memorials in honor of Willard be made to the Kidney Center or the Regional Cancer Center, both c/o Skagit Valley Hospital.
Graveside Services will be held at the Lyman Cemetery on Sunday, May 7, 2017 at 1:30 PM, with Willard’s grandson, Ryan Brown officiating. viagra pas cher A fellowship will follow at the Lyman Baptist Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
