    William Robert “Bill” Armfield, age 81, a lifelong resident of Skagit Valley passed away October 17, 2014 at Skagit Valley Hospital.  He was born May 31, 1933 in Mount Vernon, to Raymond and Erie Jane (London) Armfield.

    Bill grew up in Mount Vernon and later moved with his family to the Samish area near Sedro-Woolley.  He attended SWHS where he lettered in football and boxing.  Bill has resided in Sedro-Woolley most of his life, except when he worked in Southeastern Alaska.

    Bill served his country in the U.S. Navy, and was on the boxing team.

    He worked as a logger for different logging companies in Washington and Alaska.

    He liked fast cars, fishing and baseball and loved lemon meringue pie for his birthday.

    Bill is survived by his five nieces, Karen Adams and her husband, Phillip, of Sedro-Woolley, Joyce Bryant and her husband, Richard, of Hoquiam, Debbie Fernie and her husband, Mike, of Sedro-Woolley, Angela Hern and her husband, Errol, of Tacoma and Athena Stanley, of Wenatchee; nephew, Lee Armfield, of Wenatchee; special friend and caregiver, Jean Smith, of Sedro-Woolley; sister-in-law, Ardena Armfield, of Wenatchee and numerous grand nieces, nephews and cousins.   He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Raymond Van and Albert Duane Armfield and niece, Lynne Marie Armfield and sister-in-law, Shirley Armfield.

    A Graveside Inurnment service will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2014, at 3:00pm at the Lyman Cemetery with Pastor Janice Smith of Acme officiating, followed by a Celebration of Life and reception at the Lyman Town Hall.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be made to the Lyman Cemetery or an organization of your choice.
