William Scott ‘Bill’ Hinton a resident of Seattle for the past 14 years passed away Thursday, December 19, 2002 at his home at the age of 86 years after a long term battle with congestive heart failure. He was born July 22, 1916 in Clara, Mississippi the son of Jesse and Emma May McLendon Hinton. William was raised and educated in Clara, Mississipi and after schooling, he worked in farming and later worked for 3 years in the CCC’s. During WWII he served as a Staff Sgt in the US Army Air Corps from January 11, 1940 to May 5, 1944. From 1945 to 1965 he resided in Skagit County where he worked for the Skagit County Engineering Department and later attended night school at Washington State University earning his degree in land surveying. Bill worked for Ruskin & Fisher & Associates, a large engineering firm in Seattle for 18 years until his retirement. Bill enjoyed dancing, hunting, fishing, and he was known as a great joke teller and one who enjoyed a good laugh. He was a member of Eagles Aerie #362 of Kent, WA, a former American Legion member, and a long time member in good standing of the Trinity Communtiy Church of Kent. WA. He was married to Irene Wisterland on April 27, 1942. After a long period of time and the passing of his first wife, Bill married Hazel Bates on June 27, 1992 in Seattle. Bill is survived by his loving wife Hazel Bates Hinton of Seattle. Granddaughter Robyn Neilsen, great granddaughter Jennifer Zbylski, brother Albert Bledsoe of Omak, WA, and two sisters Eloise Orman and Juanita Bowling of Mississippi. He was preceded in death by his wife Irene and daughter Jeannie.
Visitation will be Saturday, December 21, 2002 from 9:00AM to service time at Lemley Chapel. Funeral Services will be Saturday, December 21, 2002 at 11:00AM at Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley with Pastor Perry Raak of Trinity Community Church of Kent, WA officiating. Burial will follow in the Clear Lake Cemetery with Military Honors provided by George Baldridge Post #43 American Legion.
