Alice S. Blumenshine, 83, a resident of Sedro-Woolley, passed away at her home on Sunday, August 3, 2008 surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on March 10, 1925 in Worland, Wyoming, the daughter of Tom & Blanche Smith Stork. She was raised and attended school in Riverton, Wyoming.
On June 3, 1944 Alice was united in marriage to Frank Blumenshine in Riverton, Wyoming and there they made their home and raised their family of ten children. In the mid 1960’s Alice returned to school, attending the University of Wyoming where she earned a Masters Degree in English in 1969.
In 1974 the family moved to Juneau, Alaska and Alice worked as a classification analyst for the State of Alaska and also for the Alaska Public Employees Association. She retired in 1991.
In 2003 Frank & Alice moved to Orcas Island in the San Juans where they lived until moving to Sedro-Woolley in 2007.
Alice enjoyed knitting, crocheting and reading. She has also been a longtime member of the Catholic Church.
Alice is survived by her husband of 64 years, Frank at the family home in Sedro-Woolley. Nine of her children, Connie Widman of Tucson, AZ, Dennis Blumenshine of Laramie, WY, Thomas Blumenshine and wife Anne of Mount Vernon, WA, Bruce Blumenshine and wife Kathi of Billings, MT, Toni O’Brien of Sedro-Woolley, WA, David Blumenshine and wife Suzy of Juneau, AK, Kirk Blumenshine and wife Samm of Comer, GA, Jana Heard and husband Mark of Juneau, AK and Mark Blumenshine and wife Susan of Greeley, CO. Also 36 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Cheryl Hull.
A Life Celebration will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at Lemley Chapel in Sedro-Woolley with her daughter, Toni O’Brien officiating.
