BILLY L. CARGILE, 55, a resident of Sedro-Woolley, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, May 14, 2006.
He was born on July 26, 1950 in Hollis, Oklahoma, the son of Dell & Dora Lee Cogswell Cargile.
Billy primarily made his home in Oregon where he was raised and attained his education.
On November 5, 1969 he enlisted in the U.S. Marines, serving his country during the Viet Nam Conflict. Following his discharge in 1972, he made his home in Texas, Oregon and Vancouver, Washington before settling in Sedro-Woolley in the late 1970’s.
Billy worked in the timber industry and other occupations for several years and most recently worked for Whispering Winds Wind Chimes in Anacortes.
He enjoyed fishing of all types, hiking and outdoor activities in general. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the George Baldridge Post 43, American Legion.
Billy is survived by his longtime companion, Wendy Lanier of Sedro-Woolley; his children, Phillipe J. Cargile and Tamra Cargile, both of Sedro-Woolley, Amanda Cargile of Bellingham and Jeannie Blackwell in Texas. 3 granddaughters, Samantha Marie, Kelse Ann and Cassidy Jo Cargile and due in July, Hailey Marie Vance. 7 brothers and their wives, Dell Cargile and Jim & Sharon Cargile of Mount Vernon, Ken & Inavee Cargile of Burlington, Ed Cargile of Lincoln City, OR, Curtis & Beverly Cargile of Okanagon, WA, Kit & Chris Cargile of Battle Ground, WA and Tom Emery of Olympia, WA. 2 sisters and their husbands, Dorene & Don Fish of Rexford, MT & Judy & Brett Gustafson of Claskanie, OR and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dell & Dora Lee.
A Celebration of Life for Billy Cargile will be held on Friday, May 19, 2006 at 2:00 pm at the Legion Hall in Sedro-Woolley with Pastor Rick Miles of the Day Creek Chapel officiating. Military honors will be provided by members of the George Baldridge Post #43 American Legion. Visitation will be Wednesday from 9AM to 5PM and Thursday from 9AM to 3PM at Lemley Chapel. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
