Colby Joshua Schauer, 21, a lifelong Sedro-Woolley area resident passed away on Sunday, July 29, 2007, from injuries sustained in an ATV accident.
Colby was born on November 23, 1985 in Seattle, WA the son of Ron & Sue Thurmond Schauer. He was raised in Clear Lake where he attended grade school and he attended middle school and high school in Sedro-Woolley with the class of 2004.
After school, Colby worked as a millwright and in farming until securing a job as a welder for Superior Systems.
Colby had a zest for life and he enjoyed 4 wheeling in his truck, riding ATV’s, hunting and camping with his friends and his beagle, Daisy and hanging out with his family and friends. His family and friends were a priority, if they needed help he was there, as his friends had a tendency to always need a vehicle pulled out from somewhere.
Colby was a member of the Clear Lake Community Covenant Church where he was active with the SALT program and with Youth Dynamics.
He was an outgoing young man who enjoyed jokes and pranks, and he will be missed by all his family and friends.
Colby is survived by his parents, Ron & Sue Schauer of Sedro-Woolley. Three sisters and brothers-in-law, Hannah & Marcus Waggoner of Fairbanks, AK, Shelley & Chris Johnson of La Conner and Christine & Scott Wolters of Sunnyside, WA. A brother, Byron Olander of Sedro-Woolley. His grandparents, Barbara Thurmond and Beverly & Willard Schauer all of Clear Lake. His loving girlfriend, Kortney O’Bryan of Sedro-Woolley; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and his beloved beagle, Daisy. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Wally Thurmond in 2003, his brother, Brent Olander in 2001, and a close friend, Josh Goodrow in 2004. Colby will be missed by his family and his many friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 3, 2007 at 2:00 PM at the Bethany Covenant Church, 1318 S. 18th in Mount Vernon Pastor Tim Hedberg of the Community Covenant Church of Clear Lake officiating with interment to follow at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery. A reception will follow the services at the Community Covenant Church of Clear Lake. Public Visitation will be Thursday, August 2, 2007 from 9AM to 7PM at Lemley Chapel.
The family request memorials be made to the Colby Schauer Scholarship Fund, c/o any Peoples Bank, a scholarship for students looking to attend technical or trade school. Visitation at and services under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
