dohve-dale-youngerDale Arthur Dohve, Sr, 75, a resident of Sedro-Woolley passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at Skagit Valley Hospital.
He was the oldest of eight children, born to Allan and Dorothy (Huebner) Dohve in LaCrosse, Wisconsin on July 18, 1941.
After graduating high school Dale join the US Navy and served his country from 1958 to 1978. This is where he met and married his wife Bettie Jo (Atchley) Dohve in 1966. After spending 20 years in the Military, Dale worked for Namco, managing arcades until he retired in 2006.
Dale and Bettie spent their life giving to others. They fostered many children throughout the years, and also helped watch local neighborhood children. He was better known as “Papa Dale”. They were also active in the Baptist Church. He was a regular in the Sedro Woolley community, spending almost every Friday morning at the Iron Skillet with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his son, Dale Dohve, Jr., daughter, Deborah Jones (Dan),and youngest son, Justin Dohve (Elizabeth); grandchildren, Robert Jones, Adaam Jones, Tony Bruno, Elijah Dohve, Alice Dohve; brothers, James Dohve, John Dohve, and Allan Jr Dohve; sisters, Rita Hartung and Nancy Geary; numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Dale is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 40 years, Bettie Dohve; parents Allan and Dorothy Dohve; brother, David Dohve; sister, Sue Comeau.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at the Calvary Baptist Church 324 Avon Ave, Burlington, WA at 1:00PM. The family asks that you wear a plaid or flannel shirt in his honor. Dale will be laid to rest next to his lovely wife Bettie in Plainview Church Road Cemetery in Auburn, Kentucky. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project P.O. Box 758517 Topeka, Kansas 66675. Arrangements are under the care of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
