Donna June Sherman, age 57, passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2008 at her home in Concrete, Washington.
She was born on May 22, 1951 in Juneau, Alaska to Arthur and Rosina Greenewalt Andrews.
Donna grew up in La Conner and Anacortes and graduated from Anacortes High School in 1969. She was married to David Sherman on August 7, 1971 in Anacortes.
For several years, they resided in Anacortes and Sedro-Woolley until moving to Punkin Center 20 years ago and for the past 2 years, they have resided in Concrete.
Donna attended Green River Community College and later received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education from Lummi Indian College. She was the Director of Early Childhood Development for the Northwest Intertribal Agency, the Upper Skagit Tribe, and the Nooksack Tribe.
Donna enjoyed painting, collecting native American Indian figurines, but most of all she enjoyed taking care of her family.
She is survived by her husband David C. Sherman of Concrete. 2 sons, Chad A. Sherman and his wife, Nikki Jo of Sedro-Woolley and Douglas J. Sherman and his wife, Linda of Concrete. 7 grandchildren, Ashley, Chad Jr., Raven, Trey, Jordan, David Lee, and Josephine Rose. A sister, Gail Higgins and her husband, Bill of Concrete and a brother, Bert Andrews of Federal Way and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Buzzy.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley with Father Martin Bourke of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church officiating. Interment will follow at Fern Hill Cemetery in Anacortes with Deacon George Peterson officiating.
