Gentry, DoreenDoreen Mae Gentry, 86, a resident of Sedro-Woolley, passed away Saturday, September 5, 2015 at home. She was born May 30, 1929 to Aubrey and Maude (Warfield) Rogers in Day Creek, Washington.
Doreen graduated from Sedro-Woolley High School in 1947. She worked at Montgomery Ward, early in her career. She married Elgie Gentry in 1966, and they lived in Concrete, WA until moving to Sedro-Woolley in 1999 after Elgie died. She was the bookkeeper for Elgie’s construction and rental businesses. She loved sewing and gardening, especially her flowers. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and the Concrete Garden Club.
Doreen is survived by her stepchildren, Ken and his wife, Elizabeth Gentry, of Onalaska, WA and Ann and her husband, Sam Culver, of Poulsbo, WA; sister, Jean and her husband Ernie Freddolino, of Sedro-Woolley; brothers, Michael and his wife, Andrea Rogers, of Sedro-Woolley and Les and his wife Mary Fitzgerald, of Alger; sister in law, Nancy Rogers, of Sedro-Woolley; brother in law, Morris Nicholson of Antoch, CA; four grandchildren; great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Doreen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elgie Gentry; brother, Patrick Rogers; sister, Dorothy Nicholson.
Memorial Contributions are suggested to the Humane Society or Hospice of the Northwest.
A Graveside Inurnment will be held at 1:00, Saturday, September 12, 2015 at Union Cemetery, Sedro-Woolley, with Pastor Wendy Tingley presiding.

    I met Doreen first when I was working @ Concrete High School.She was such a sweet and the most gracious lady.She had so much Compassion for my daughter,Diane,and kept in touch with her when Diane was so ill.She will always be remembered.

    I’m so sorry to learn of Doreen’s passing; though I didn’t know her personally, our family was close friends with Elgie when we all lived in Concrete. Actually Kenny was in my grade at school and Elgie worked in my Dad’s logging operation. I was very surprised to learn that Kenny lives in Onalaska, just up the road from me.
    My prayers and condolences are with the Gentry and Rogers families.
