Edith Irene Reed, 89, a resident of Sedro-Woolley, passed away on December 22, 2016 at United General Hospital in Sedro-Woolley.

Edith was born on February 2, 1927 in Hamilton, the daughter of John & Linnea (Adamson) Elving. She was raised and attended school in Hamilton and graduated from Sedro-Woolley High School with the class of 1945.

On November 30, 1946 she was united in marriage to Hollas Reed and together they made their home and raised their family in Hamilton until his untimely death in 1962.

Edith later moved to Fall City and worked as a sales clerk for the Bon Marche in Seattle for several years. She returned to the Skagit Valley in the early 1990’s.

Edith was a loving mother and grandmother and especially enjoyed time with her grand and great-grandchildren.

Edith is survived by her daughter & son-in-law, Gail and Pete Nichols of Lyman;  4 grandchildren, David Reed (Leanna), Deanna Estes (Mike), Jon Nichols (Mindi)  and Michele Perry (Ed); 9 great-grandchildren, Riley Hoyle, Ryann & Sid Livingston, Renae Perry, Alivia, Allison, and Carson Nichols, John Reed and Farrah Estes; daughter-in-law, Kay Reed, and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was also preceded in death by her son, John Reed, and 5 sisters.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. at the Lyman Cemetery.  Memorials in honor of Edith are suggested to a charity of your choice. Services are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley. Please share memories of Edith and sign the online guest register.

    So sorry to hear about your mother. I am so glad me and my mom were able to visit with her a few years ago.
