Eileen Emily Louia, age 92, a longtime resident of Burlington, passed away Friday, January 22, 2016 at home. She was born April 4, 1923 in Burrton, Kansas to Lesley and Edith (Essig) Ansel.
Eileen grew up in Kansas until she and her family moved to Whittier, California where she graduated from Whittier High School in 1941. On August 29, 1941 she was married to Floyd L. Louia in Rivera, California. They made their home in Burlington, Washington where Eileen was a homemaker and a mother raising her three children.
She was a member of the Burlington Eagles Auxiliary in the 1950’s, serving through the Chairs, Lions Club in Burlington since the 1970’s, where she received the Melvin Jones Fellowship, a member of the Skagit Good Sam Club, and a volunteer at United General Hospital. As an active member of the Allen United Methodist Church, she participated in the Mavis Circle, knitting scarves and hats for the Skagit Valley Herald Christmas Fund and was the faithful cashier for the monthly Spaghetti Dinners.
Eileen is survived by her three children, Wilma Louia, of Burlington, Lester Louia, of Seattle and Steve (Jody) Louia, of Burlington; three grandchildren, Traci (Don) Erickson, Michelle (Shawn) Cahill and Scott Louia (Natalie Muri); five great grandchildren, Rachel and David Erickson, Reilly, Connor and Ellie Cahill; two sisters, Gloria Matson of Escondido, CA and Juanita Hinson of Sedro-Woolley; former sons in law, Mike Jensen and Harvey Maier; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Floyd in April of 1999; an infant son, Stanley; two brothers, Donald and Robert; a sister, Margaret Roberts and a grandson, Michael Jensen Jr.
A special thank you to the staff of Hospice of the Northwest for their caring and compassion.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00, Friday, January 29, 2016, at the Allen United Methodist Church with Pastor Mark Johnson officiating. A time of visitation will be available from 9:00 to 5:00 Tuesday through Thursday at Lemley Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Floyd Louia Memorial Scholarship, in care of the Burlington Edison Alumni Foundation (BEAF) PO Box 350, Burlington, WA 98233.
