Eldon Eugene Johnson, age 84, passed away Saturday, February 1, 2006 at his home in Birdsview with his family at his side. He was born July 12, 1921 in Moscow, Idaho, the son of Fred and Clara Dygert Johnson.
Eldon grew up in Idaho and moved to Marblemount in 1937 working for the Forest Service packing equipment into forest fires and working as a lookout. During WWII, he served with the Army Air Corps. He returned to Marblemount and worked as a heavy equipment operator working on the Baker and Gorge Dams. In 1969, he moved to Sultan and resided there until returning to Birdsview 30 years ago working for DNR for twenty years until his retirement. Eldon was married to Luella Nieshe on October 3, 1953 in Whatcom County. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, wild flowers, and was a former member of the Sedro-Woolley Eagles and American Legion.
Survivors include his wife Luella of the family home in Birdsview. 2 sons, Calvin Johnson of Concrete and Randy Johnson of Birdsview. 3 daughters, Lynn Taylor and Jan Hawk of Sedro-Woolley and Sherry Brinks of the Olympia area. 3 step-daughters, Barbara Gillespie of Sedro-Woolley, Joan Flowers of Oak Harbor, Esther Wilder of Port Angeles, and a step-son Jerry Jakolla of Port Angeles. Numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. And a special friend Audrey Isham of Birdsview. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Ronny, 4 brothers, Ed, Harold, Cecil, and Fred, and a step-son Gene Nieshe.
Graveside Services will be Friday, February 24, 2006 at 2:00PM at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery with Pastor Mike Osborne of Sedro-Woolley officiating with Military Honors to follow by George Baldridge Post #31 American Legion.
