Joan Allene Green, age 67, passed away Friday, August 22, 2008 at the University Hospital in Seattle, WA with her family at her side.
She was born August 28, 1940 in Sedro-Woolley, WA to Allan and Mary Jackson Ketchum. Joan was a lifetime resident of Sedro-Woolley where she attended school and graduated with the Sedro-Woolley High School class of 1958. She was married to Robert Green on July 16, 1960 in Sedro-Woolley and they had just celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary. Joan worked as a loan processor for Island Savings & Loan later Wells Fargo, retiring after 24 years of service.
Joan was a member of the Eagles, American Legion Auxiliary and was an active member and officer of the Sedro-Woolley High School Alumni Association. In her younger years, she was an avid bowler and pool player and most recently she enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, and participating in the 8:30 AM Healthy Heart Class at United General Hospital. She enjoyed and will be remembered for hosting the Class of 1958 picnics at her family cabin at Day Creek.
Joan is survived by her husband Robert Green of Sedro-Woolley. 2 sons, Jim Green and his wife Linda of Graham, WA and Kelly Green of Seattle, WA. 4 grandchildren, Eric Benjamin, Bryan Benjamin, William Green, and Sarah Kaitlyn Green. Her sister, Sharon Dennis and her husband Jerry of Big Lake, WA and a sister-in-law, Patty Green of Albuquerque, NM. Numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Allan and Mary Ketchum, her sister, Kay Rodgers, and numerous aunts and uncles.
Memorial Services will be held Thursday, August 28, 2008 at 2:00 PM at Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley with Pastor Wendy Tingley of the Trinity United Presbyterian Church officiating. A reception will follow the services at the family cabin at Day Creek. Inurnment will follow at a later date at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Sedro-Woolley High School Alumni Association, PO Box 509, Sedro-Woolley, WA 98284 or a charity of your choice.
