Joseph ‘Joe’ Kutscher, age 84, passed away Thursday, April 13, 2006 at Home Place Special Care in Burlington, WA.
He was born May 30, 1921 in Chambers, Nebraska, the son of William and Olga Bartunek Kutscher.
Joe grew up in Nebraska attending school there and he was united in marriage to Thelma Blair on March 5, 1941 in Bartlett, Nebraska. Since then he has resided in Sedro-Woolley. During WWII, Joe served with the US Army. After the war, he worked for Fred Nelson Chevrolet in the auto body shop for many years and later worked for Skagit Steel as a machinist, retiring in 1982.
He was a 50 year member of the American Legion and Joe enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, and working on cars.
Joe is survived by his sons, Eldon Kutscher and his wife Freddie of Sedro-Woolley and Randy Kutscher and his wife Pam of Conway. 6 grandchildren, Cindi Curry, Tina Clark, Kay Ballenger, Bob Shaffer, Stephanie Kutscher and Shannon Kutscher. 7 great-grandchildren, Arielle and Brett Curry, Brianna Cummins and Spencer Clark, Codey, Clay, and Kadie Ballenger. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Thelma in 1982 and a brother Stanley Kutscher.
Graveside Services will be Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at 11:00AM at Greenhills Cemetery in Burlington with Pastor Dwight Woodruff of the New Hope Christian Fellowship of Anacortes officiating. Military Honors will be performed by George Baldridge Post #43 American Legion. Memorials are suggested to Home Place Special Care or Skagit Hospice. The family would like to express their appreciation for the care given Joe by the staff at Home Place Special Care, Dr. Edwin Stickle, and Skagit Hospice.
