    Karen Renee Nickel (Detillion), 61, joined her Lord and Savior on December 17, 2013 at home with her family by her side.  

     Karen was born on April 12, 1952 in Oakland, California to Carl and Barbara Detillion.  Her childhood was spent in Mount Vernon, Washington where she attended Washington Elementary and Mount Vernon High School. 

     In 1976 Karen met her soul mate, Glenn Nickel.  They were married on December 15, 1978 at the Birdsview Grange and spent most of their married life living in the Upper Skagit Valley residing in Birdsview and Concrete.  Karen loved spending her time with her family.  She enjoyed being outside in her numerous gardens and had a special fondness for birds of all kinds. 

     Karen is survived by her husband of 35 years, Glenn Nickel; her daughter, Autumn Pawlowicz and her husband, Scott, and their children, Alisha and Skyler; her son, Eron Nickel, and his son, Tyler; her daughter, Angela Houck and her husband, DJ; her brother, Steve Detillion and his wife, Liz; her mother, Barbara Moultrie (Detillion); her step-mother, Bette Detillion; her sister, Julie Harris and her husband, Ivory; her brother, Mark Detillion and his wife, Jolene, along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Karen was preceded in death by her father, Carl Detillion and her brother, Keith Detillion. 

     Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at 1:00 pm.at Lemley Chapel in Sedro-Woolley.  A Celebration of Life reception will be held afterward, that location to be announced at the end of the service.
