Larry Neal DeLano, Jr., ‘Rocky’ 41, a longtime Skagit County resident passed away at his home in Sedro-Woolley on Thursday, May 18, 2006.
He was born on April 16, 1965 in Sunnyside, Washington the son of Larry N., Sr. and Connie J. Wallace DeLano.
The family moved to Skagit County in 1968, settling in Hamilton where Rocky attended grade school and spent many hours fishing on the Skagit River. He also attended schools in Sedro-Woolley. As a boy Rocky was very active in Little League & Babe Ruth Baseball and was one of the areas better pitchers for several years.
Over the years Rocky worked for lumber mills in Whatcom County & in Sedro-Woolley, the Washington Cheese Factory in Mount Vernon and most recently as a roofer in the construction industry for Pacific Tech. He was united in marriage to Heather Raffo on June 23, 1998 in Sumas and they made their home in Sedro-Woolley.
Rocky was a loving husband, devoted father, son, brother, uncle, nephew and friend to many, and he will be greatly missed.
Rocky’s family wishes to thank the staff of Skagit Hospice, the Life Care Center of Skagit Valley in Sedro-Woolley and to Janet Downs, Rocky’s care provider for their loving care.
Rocky recently had been attending the First Baptist Church in Burlington.
He is survived by his wife Heather and their children, Stephen and Stephanie of the family home in Sedro-Woolley and his daughter Megan DeLano of Sedro-Woolley. His mother, Connie DeLano in Everson. A brother, Scott Bauder and his wife, Molly of Mount Vernon and his 2 sisters, Karin Warren and her husband, Jim of Deming and Lori DeLano of Phoenix, AZ. Special aunt & uncle, Faye & Lowell Engberg of Sedro-Woolley. His cousins, Garvin, Dale and Clayton DeLano, Denise & Denny Engberg and April Archer. His parents-in-law, Vickieann & Dave Dawson of Dover, ID; brother-in-law, Tony Raffo of Sagle, ID; sister-in-law, Daisy Arreola of Phoenix, AZ, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Larry N. DeLano, Sr., grandparents, Jack & Doris DeLano, uncles, Bud & Buzz DeLano and his father-in-law, Roy Raffo.
Memorials are suggested to the DeLano Children Trust Fund, c/o any branch of Skagit State Bank.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. at Lemley Chapel in Sedro-Woolley with Pastor Ron Deegan of the First Baptist Church in Mount Vernon and Burlington officiating.
A fellowship will follow services at the home of Denise & Kevin at 6930 Faye Place, Sedro-Woolley. Cremation and services are under the direction of Lemley Chapel,
