Lawrence Nels Hedden, 89, a lifelong resident of Sedro-Woolley passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2005 at United General Hospital in Sedro-Woolley, WA.
He was born on April 30, 1916 in Lyman, WA, the son of William and Oma Donaldson Hedden. He was raised and attended schools in Sedro-Woolley. Lawrence was united in marriage to Millie Kohn on January 24, 1944 in Baltimore, Maryland.
He served in the U. S. Coast Guard for 8 years and later worked for the U. S. Post Office in Sedro-Woolley until his retirement in 1971. Lawrence was a founding member of the local VFW, a member of the American Legion, and a member of the Steelhead Club where he enjoyed steelhead and lake fishing. In the late 40s and early 50s, both he and Millie were active in the Sedro-Woolley Rodeo Club.
He is survived by his wife Millie at the family home in Sedro-Woolley. 2 daughters and sons in law, Carole Harwood and her husband Ron of Clear Lake and Janis Snowden and her husband Jerry of Camano Island. 5 grandchildren, Shawna Turcott and her husband Fred, Heidi Hamilton and her husband Cary, Amy Harwood, Leslie Harwood all of Sedro-Woolley and Dean Harwood and his wife Leslie of Everett, WA. 6 great-grandchildren, Tiffany and Karri Wilson, Braelyn, Taylen and Calvin Hamilton and Tanner Harwood, and his faithful dog ‘TJ Max’.
The family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or the Humane Society.
Graveside Services will be held on Monday, October 17, 2005 at 11:00 at Union Cemetery in Sedro-Woolley with Pastor Wendy Tingley of the Trinity United Presbyterian Church officiating. Services and arrangements under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
