Leland Louis ‘Piney’ Metcalf, age 76, passed away Sunday, May 25, 2008 at the Life Care Center of Skagit Valley in Sedro-Woolley, Washington. He was born September 2, 1931 in Lyman, Washington to Theodore and Mary Jane Daves Metcalf.
Piney was a lifetime resident of Sedro-Woolley and worked as a logger for Scott Paper for many years and after his retirement he raised beef cattle. He loved to hunt and fish and spend time with his family. Piney served in the US Army during Korea. He was married to Maxine Wilson on January 25, 1967 in Sedro-Woolley.
He is survived by his wife Maxine Metcalf and his son Edward Lee Metcalf of the family home in Sedro-Woolley. 4 brothers; Willard W. Metcalf and his wife Marilyn of Hamilton, Charles L. Metcalf of Smokey Point, Stanley B. Metcalf and his wife Elsie of Birdsview, and Theodore D. Metcalf and his wife Mary of Longview. Numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Delores McCoy.
Graveside Inurnment Services will be held Friday, May 30, 2008 at 11:00AM at the Lyman Cemetery with Pastor Bruce Martin of the Concrete Assembly of God Church officiating. A celebration of life reception will follow the services at the Sedro-Woolley Community Center. Arrangements and Services are under the care of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
