Louise May Holmes, 84, a longtime Skagit County resident passed away on Friday, June 16, 2006 at Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon.
She was born on July 30, 1921 in Rhinelander, Wisconsin, the daughter of Ernest & Violet Towne Richter, and was raised and attended school in Rhinelander.
In 1945 Louise came to Skagit County where ‘her job’ was being a loving, caring and devoted wife and mother and a kind and considerate friend to many. She loved to provide for her family and friends with baked and canned goods; she enjoyed tending to her flower and vegetable garden; spending time at the ocean where she would collect driftwood, rocks and shells to make decorations for her home and family and she enjoyed reading and writing poetry, winning an award in 1991 from the National Poet Society for her poems.
On April 23, 1988 she was united in marriage to Wendell Holmes in Kirkland, WA and together they have made their home in for the past 10 years in Hamilton.
Louise was also an active member of the Hamilton First Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Wendell at the family home in Hamilton. Her children and their spouses, Jack & Debra Towers of Kirkland, WA, Carolyn & Vernon Mannon of Bothell, WA, Susan Judd and her fianc
