Lyle C. Buchanan, age 88, passed away on Monday, November 7, 2005 at the United General Hospital in Sedro-Woolley, WA.
He was born on April 10, 1917 in Lansing, Michigan, the son of Ellsworth and Phoebe Burch Buchanan.
Lyle moved with his family to Concrete, WA when he was six years old, attending school and graduating from Concrete High School in 1935. He served during WWII with the U.S. Army as an aircraft maintenance technician. While stationed in England, he met his wife, Joan Cubby and they were married on December 14, 1943. Joan preceded him in death on November 1, 1987. After the War, Lyle worked for Portland and Superior Concrete Plants and later at Baker Dam. He also worked for Skagit County and retired as a machinist with Skagit Steel in Sedro-Woolley.
Lyle was a member of St. James Episcopal Church and the George Baldridge Post #43 American Legion.
He is survived by his daughters, Linda Jo Cleveland and her husband, Robert of Seattle and Sheila Moore of Sedro-Woolley. 5 grandchildren, Chris and Karen Cleveland and Andy, Joe and Sam Moore; and a great-granddaughter, Hailey Moore. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Ellsworth, and his wife Joan.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 14, 2005 at 10:00AM at Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley. Interment will follow at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery with Military Honors provided by George Baldridge Post #43 American Legion. Memorials are suggested to the George Baldridge Post #43 American Legion Scholarship Fund. Arrangements are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
